Equipment

  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Small saucepan
  • Serving plate

Ingredients

  • 4 heirloom tomatoes
  • 1 burrata cheese 8 ounces
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon truffle salt

Instructions

  • Prepare the Balsamic Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and truffle salt. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook until reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Let it cool.
  • Slice the Tomatoes: Cut the heirloom tomatoes into thin slices and arrange them on a serving plate. Drizzle with olive oil and season with sea salt and black pepper.
  • Arrange the Salad: Layer the tomato slices on the plate, tucking fresh basil leaves between some of the slices.
  • Add the Burrata: Place the burrata cheese in the center of the plate. Cut it open gently to let the creamy interior ooze out slightly.
  • Drizzle and Serve: Drizzle the cooled balsamic glaze over the tomatoes and burrata. Garnish with extra basil leaves and serve immediately.

Notes

This salad pairs well with crusty bread, but it’s equally delicious on its own. For a more traditional flavor, substitute buffalo mozzarella for burrata.
